WEIGHT LOSS

What nobody tells you about the first two weeks on GLP-1 medication

Week one: the adjustment

The goal of the first fortnight isn't weight loss. It's finding the dose your body tolerates comfortably. Nausea, smaller meals and earlier fullness are common. Call your physician if you cannot keep fluids down, or if symptoms feel severe rather than inconvenient.

What's normal, what isn't

Mild nausea, constipation and a changed relationship with food are expected. Persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, or signs of dehydration are not — those need a same-day call to the care team.

Eating on a smaller appetite

Protein first, then vegetables, then the rest of the plate. Keep meals you already recognise. The aim is enough food without forcing volume your stomach no longer wants.

When to call your physician

Use the patient dashboard or WhatsApp line if doses feel too high, if you miss injections, or if you are unsure whether a symptom is expected. This is not emergency care — for urgent symptoms, call 112.
